Safe Trader Scheme
20th of March, 2025
Lancashire County Council operates a Safe Trader Scheme, which provides consumers with a list of local businesses who have committed to trade fairly and honestly. The Scheme covers all aspects of home improvement and repair work, including building, carpentry, external property repairs, gardening, decorating and home security. LCC also include trades that assist elderly and vulnerable people maintain their independence such as cleaners, mobility suppliers and shoppers.
Checks are carried out on the business prior to inclusion on the Scheme including a visit to their business premises and additional checks to ensure they comply with relevant legislation, have necessary insurance policies in place and are members of any regulatory bodies they are legally required to be registered with. Businesses are also required to agree to abide by the Code of Practice.
The main aim of the scheme is to give residents of Lancashire access to fair and honest traders and help protect them against Rogue Traders.
LCC are also interested to hear from reliable traders who wish to become members of the scheme.
